I have been terrible with updating, I know. I've been either working on commissions, roleplaying or waiting for my financial aid monies.

Speaking of financial aid, my money woes will be taken care of for awhile. After tuition, I'll have MORE than enough to pay rent up to September (a month after Fall semester starts) and get all my bills taken care of (and paid up for a little bit, too). And, I'll have money left over to get needed house things and have a little fun during the summer. So that's a relief, at least. I don't know why I'm getting almost twice as much for Summer as I am for Fall and Spring, but I guess I can't complain too much. I'll just have to pick my classes more carefully for the other semesters, since I don't have as much money for tuition.

My food stamp stuff worked out easily. Since my paper were dated for the same month, I didn't need to get new ones. So everything cool now, unless we start making job income over $1500 a month. Which, while it would be nice, is probably unlikely.

Speaking of, still job hunting. It's been raining a lot, so I haven't been able to get out and about. Hopefully that will change. Plus, we'll have gas monies soon, so that will be helpful. The buses only go so far, after all. Plus, Angie got hired in at the Walmart in Cuyahoga Falls, so we're hoping we might get lucky there.

All the critters are doing well. The cats are shedding, so I'm thinking about getting them shaved for the summer. Which should be both hilarious for us and degrading for them.

The ratties are doing well. Carbomb is coming out of his shell finally! I had him out on the bed the other night and he was wandering around on his own and he took a treat from me. This is unheard of, especially after Chuck terrorized him and all. The nudes are still nude and Remus (the oldest of the group that came back from Seattle with us) is still doing really well. We only have three furred rats now! It's hilarious that the nudes outnumber them.

I need to buy a second baby gate for the ferrets. Either the kitchen is blocked off, or the stairs are blocked off and I'd rather them not go in either.

We also have a new member of the household:

TJ's been wanting a dog for a long time now. Erin lives with Rob because she needs other dogs to be around and, really, his mom loves her. So he's been hunting around for a suitable dog for us. Since we have the cats, it's been a little difficult. I also didn't want a dog we'd have to do a lot of training with, outside of normal 'new dog' training.

So, after meeting some other dogs that just...weren't for us, we met Melanie. She's a 6-7 year old Corgi/Lab mix (as far as we can tell). Her owners, an older (probably 40-50s) couple, got her from the pound as a friend for their dog. All was well, until Mel started warming up to them and their dog (Angel, I believe) got jealous and started acting out at Melanie. The couple wanted to see her go to someone who could dote on her and didn't have other dogs or kids or mayhem in the house. The most mayhem we have is cackling at Supernatural, so that's not terribly mayhem-y. Plus, she got along with their kitten.

She's absolutely not aggessive at all. The cats are still really put off by her because, well, this was their territory and they were here first. Plus, she's larger than them and OH GOD WHAT IS THAT MOM WHY IS IT HERE. So they're going to take some time to come around. Dean is a bit more curious, but Sam thinks I've done him some great wrong and just GLARES at everything. They hiss at her, she walks away from them. Really, she's mostly taken to ignoring the cats unless they get in her business. And I've been letting the cats investigate her on their own terms. It's a gradual process, I know. Cats are just weird like that. The fact that she's so passive/submissive is a good thing to, because the cats just hiss and puff up at her and she goes about her business.

She knows a few commands, like stay and lay down. She's very well housebroken and lets us know when she wants to go outside (which, in reality, is all the time or whenever we get out of a chair). She's not terribly rambunctious and just likes sleeping on her blanket near us, which is nice. She's super friendly and seems to love everything.

We went out for a walk to the river today and she's a fabulous walker, which is good because it'll help TJ get out and walking more!

Overall, I think she's the dog we've been looking for. She's really relaxed and a little older, so she's not FULL OF ENERGY ALL THE TIME OH MY GOD. Plus, she doesn't seem to have any bad habits, which is also good. She's up to date on all her shots and stuff, for the most part, but she'll get a vet visit to see what she needs when and all.

She also hates having her picture taken. At least, in the house. If she sees a camera or a cellphone pointed at her, she'll hide her face. Outside, though, she seemed to be too disctracted by things to bother with paying attention to the camera.

Really, I'm just happy things are looking up and I can get all my financial stuff paid up and out of the way. I'm considering buying a laptop now, instead of in the fall, since I'll have the extra cash. I wanted to get something fancy (read: customized), but I'll probably opt for something basic and store-bought to save money. I also have to (likely) buy a new camera for the photography class I'm taking for the summer. This isn't a bad thing, since it can be a digital camera (and not a serious business camera) and, well, I can't complain about a new camera.

My webspace is down, so all my images and stuff are broken. Which sucks. D: I also have an earache, which also sucks. But I think I'll survive.
