I haven't written in awhile. Mostly because there hasn't been a whole lot going on. I'm waiting on a refund from a class I dropped at the beginning of the month that is kind of vital because it includes my rent money. But I won't get it until October 9th at the earliest. Thirty days after the class was dropped is policy. Pain in the ass. But I paid half of this months rent at the beginning of the month, so at least I've paid SOMETHING. I mean, there's really not anything else I can do because I only have, like, $60 to my name right now.
I'm still job hunting. I need/want to find something ASAP. Come January, everything'll be fine because TJ will be back in school and we'll have double the money. But it's going to be tight until then unless I can find something stable to carry us through. I don't mind working at all, but it's been difficult to find something suitable for me nearby or on the bus route.

Dumb hipster-y outfit I'm wearing today. I'm pretty much using college as an excuse to dress however the hell I please for the day because I can get away with it and not look like a complete tool. Because there's people who are dressed much weirder/stranger than I every day. I also get the chance to try out things I wouldn't wear normally or have been too scared to wear on a regular basis for whatever dumb reason (like skirts and dresses).
I had to cradle a dying squirrel this morning. :/ Ruby, our house squirrel (she lives in the attic and has been there since we moved in), we on the back porch when I took Melanie out this morning. I don't take Mel out on a leash anymore (to take her to her lead in the backyard) because she knows to stay in her yard and she listens to me.
So Mel goes bolting for Ruby, who scurries up the side of the wood. I tell Mel to stop and I put her out on her lead. Ruby shimmies down and does this little dance like she doesn't know where to go. I'm standing there and waiting for her to go down to the ground and off under the porch. She doesn't. Instead, she shimmies down and goes onto the back porch.
Our back porch is long and thin. There's a hole where there was a window once upon a time, but it's empty now. I assumed she would see it and leap through it. She doesn't, she runs around on the porch before hiding behind a piece of carpet that's draped through the window. I go into the house and figure she'll leave on her own since there's no one out there and Mel's on her leash in the yard.
I come out a bit later to bring Mel in and Ruby is in the same place on the porch. So I get the snow shovel and gently shoo her out of her hiding spot. Instead of going under the porch or something sensible, she bolts straight for Melanie. Instead of continuing to run past the dog, because she could have outran Mel, she goes to leap up on the concrete of the building next to our back yard. Of course, her claws don't catch and Mel grabs her.
Shrieking ensues and I yell at Mel to drop Ruby which she, shockingly, does. But it was too late and Mel either bit something vital or Ruby was so in shock that she died of fright. I felt pretty bad because, well, Ruby was a pretty cool little squirrel and would hang out on the roof in front of my room and really didn't bother much of anything aside from the pitter patter of little feet on the floor above our room. But I couldn't be mad at Mel, either, because she was just doing what comes naturally.
So I wrapped Ruby up in my hoodie and held her until she passed on. I'm going to take to the far back of the yard and bury her in the leaves and brush back there.
But aside from that, the critter front is doing well.

Deancat loves sleeping on the banister where I hang the extra towels and blankets and stuff. It's his new favorite place and he's almost always perched there. Also, cats with their tongues out are pretty much the cutest things ever. Seriously.

Samcat likes sleeping in the closet (it's pitch black in there, the flash lies) and wearing plastic bags as capes. He LOVES plastic bags and is reguarly rolling around or hiding in one if he's not in my lap or under the covers. Also, he rarely gets his head through them like this.
My classes have been going well. I have two exams on Monday, but I'm not too worried about them. My VCD/graphic design class is still going slow, but at least I'm learning something from it that I've been using. Specifically, how to use the pentool in Indesign, which has been useful for making stupid things for a game I'm in.

The first one was done in-class as, like, our third time using the pentool to clip an image. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, once I learned the trick to using it. The rest of the class...not so much. But we had to clip around the golfer in the foreground, then add text behind him. I know it's pretty ~basic~, but I'm proud of how well mine came out. I kinda want to to more stuff like that in-class because it's so easy for me. The second is a dumb thing I made for a game I'm in. It's not important who/what the characters are or why the image of the guy on the right doesn't fit with the others. But I clipped that Adam Lambert photo and managed to blend it with the others in a way that doesn't look horrendus!

Only thing I've drawn in awhile. I'm also not putting some titties behind a cut, so deal with it. :|
Oh! We watched The Princess and the Frog the other day finally. I was typical Disney princess fairytale, so I enjoyed it by default (because I'm a sucker for fairytales, even if they're cliche or formulaic). But we really enjoyed, well, all the side characters over Tiana and Naveen. Charlotte was especially entertaining and I really loved how she was willing to bypass material possessions and riches just to help her friend out. I also liked how the 'princess' didn't get carted off to a big castle and Naveen stayed with her and they had an amazing resturant and all that.
Also, I think what the movie is really telling us is that the quickest way to a man's heart is through is stomach. Just saying.
We also watched Under the Red Hood because, well, ~Jensen Ackles~ as Red Hood/Jason Todd. It was really good! Like, I think we expect most ~cartoons~ to be dumbed down because we grew up with stuff like the Batman animated series which was pretty SRS BSNS sometimes. But Red Hood really held to that and there were some little gripes (no Mark Hamill as Joker?! what is this blasphemy!?) and the noticable anime influences. But those were just personal little things. Overall, it was really good and listening to Jensen's voice is always a bonus.
