I MADE THIS! :D

No, really, it's a pretty big accomplishment. I scored a circa 1970's bag making book from the thrift store awhile back and I've been itching to use it. The fabric is some I've had forever and I have A LOT of it. Like, I'd say, at least three yards. So it was good to make a prototype with. The lining is this awful green fabric that never cuts out the right size, it's just WEIRD. But it makes good lining, so I've been using it for practice. It's seriously the worst thing ever, though.

It's not terribly big. The patter called for it to be roughly 9x11, I believe. Mine ended up a little smaller because of having to deal with that stupid green fabric. BUT! It perfectly fits my planner and my little kraft sketchbook, plus a few other small things.

The strap is a little short for my liking. The pattern called for a yard fabric for it, but the bag only hangs just at my hip. I would prefer it a little longer, but maybe people prefer it there. Who knows.

Once I get down the art of making these (which, once that green is gone from existence, won't be too difficult), I'll likely be selling them in my Etsy store. I have about four (including the pink) different fabrics right now, so that should give a small selection. Once I have a little more cash, I can pick up some zippers and do some of the other little things the book has patterns for. Like change purses and stuff. There's even a cute knitting bag, because I know a lot of folks are big into knitting now.

I'm actually up before 3PM today! MY alarm went off and I was bombarded by kittens. I think they know what the alarm means and, obviously, they should help out.

Speaking of kittens, here's a Sammy sitting in the window:

We're going up to campus today to check out the opening of the LGBTQ Center on campus. This is the first time they've actually had a center (so-to-speak, it's really just an office in the Student Center), so it's a pretty big deal. But, we are poor and free food is a good siren song.

Speaking of free food, I went up to the food bank at the social services office the other day and they hooked us up. It's nice to not have to do a song and dance like you had to in Warren. I guess because SO. MANY. people go to the food banks in Warren and people here are a LITTLE better off in that regard. But we got a buggy full of food, plus local resturants will drop off stuff to be given away. We lucked out and got...CHIPOTLE. So now we have a few frozen bags of barbacoa and carnitas in the freezer and it is REALLY HARD to not eat it all in one sitting.

We had barbacoa the other night and I made fresh salsa and it was NOM.

Still job hunting, however. Trying to recoup roughly $200 to go back into the rent money. I've got a little bit of money here and there, but it's gone to things like either feeding us or feeding the car so we can get to and from class.

Plus I have to worry about ALL of May's rent, especially if we don't find a job. HOWEVER, if I'm lucky, my landlord will work with me because I get my financial aid at the end of May. So, we'll see, I suppose. Once I get my finincial aid cash, I'll be able to pay for a few months again and it won't be an issue. But, for now, it's sort of hanging over our heads in a bad way.

But, aside from that that's always there, things have been pretty good. The weather has been beautiful, no jackets needed! :D

Got my midterm grades back yesterday. They are...less than stellar. But that's okay, because I know I missed a chunk of work in one class on account of the shitty weather and not being able to get out of the driveway and such.

COLLEGE WRITING I Stark Campus C
THE UNDERSTANDING OF MUSIC Stark Campus D+
THE ART OF THE THEATRE Stark Campus F

That F is on account of missing two classes due to weather and us having a quiz in class (also, a pretty bad midterm exam grade on my part, but I have a hard time not getting plot things in some older Greek plays mixed up). But our professor said we can make it up no problem, he doesn't want to see us drop class.

The D in Music is nothing, really. It's only out of 270 available points at this point, so many people were a few (or even one!) points away from a higher grade. This is out of 1000 base points available all semester (and not including extra credit/bonus stuff). So that's not a concern at all for me.

C in Writing is because I forgot a paper in my last writing portfolio, mostly. That can be brought up easily.

So, despite what appears to be REALLY. BAD. midterm grades, it's not that bad and they're easily brought up.

Okay, enough rambling, I should get ready to go up to campus here in a bit! Excite!

O HI FAILING PSYCHOLOGY GRADE. I really hope that picks up with the next test. The first test is what took me down so badly, because I get my homework in on time and everything. I don't think my lab was too great, but no one's really was. I doubt I'll be taking a psych course in the future because it was more work than I realized. I was not aware lab/research reports were involved because HURP DURP WE WANNA BE A SCIENC DURP. I just wanna learn/talk about shit.

Ah well, now I know.

I'm pretty pleased with those B's, however. Though, the Math might drop because I've been really bad about it and a lot of stuff just isn't STICKING. I think it really is that I just DON'T GET some math.

Next semester, since we'll still be at the Trumbull branch, I'm thinking about taking Art of Theatre and Art of Acting since there's no VCD courses (that I know of) at this campus and I want to take something interesting. I'm NOT taking a Drawing course with Buntin EVER AGAIN. I will take Drawing II out at KSU, but not here. No way. TJ's thinking about taking the Directing class and I told him we should take all of the theatre classes together. Because GODDAMN I LOVE THEATRE.

Speaking of acting and that sort, Rob's zombie project is a bit postponed. Until this weekend/next week at least. Guy who was going to loan them the guns for the scene bailed, so they have to find someone else to help out.

Doodle from the other day in class.

I bought some ADORABLE fabric on clearance (and 50% off that!) that I might try my hand at making some tote bags. :3 :3 I have a circa-1970s book on making bags (Lucy's Bag Book, if anyone's curious) and stuff I've been wanting to use and tote bags and stuff are pretty popular right now. :3

Oh hey, here's some new musics!

I do it every year, because I'm a faggot.

We spent the last couple days working on this...err...THIS for [livejournal.com profile] squeeji. TJ's going to be making an Iron Man inspired one so they can be gay together. Because they're huge fags. I'm kind of dreading the Iron Man one because of all the details. The Cap one was easy, aside from getting a correctly drawn star.

We watched all of Moral Orel yesterday. What a fucked up show that devolved into.

I'm -$26 in the bank. Oh, I had the money to cover what I needed. What happened, though? Timing issue. Fags. So now I have to scrounge up that money by....tonight so I don't get hit with another overdraft fee. Ugh. Fucking banks. So I'll probably see if I can borrow some monies from Rob, because they beasties are looking at me with those hungry eyes and I know Pamcake would devour my fingers if given the chance.

I'm debating on what to do with some of my refund money. I gotta sit some aside for the move in a few months, but I want to enjoy some of it. I worked my ass off for over a year, I deserve to! But I'm thinking I might splurge on computer parts. I mean, yeah, I could buy a whole new computer (and wouldn't /that/ be nice?), but that's, like, $300-$500 gone. If I got the parts I desperately need (new HDD, more RAM). I mean, the biggest issue with my computer now is the lack of space and the fact I can't run my art programs as nicely as I'd like.

So, we'll see.

I'm working on a big 100 question character sheet thing. I'm doing Freckles first, because that's who I've been playing lately.

Now, I should find clothes because I don't know where they ran off to after destroying the room cleaning a bit last night.

Also, I discovered Ludo's playing at the Grog Shop in Cleveland in Feburary. It's okay $12, but I don't have a way up there. :P I wish we lived closer, or lived in a larger city so I could go see bands more. :/
