Oh, motherfuck.
We came home and I fed the rats. Quidge wasn't out and about, but sometimes he sleeps and doesn't bother greeting us. I go to lay down and his beaky head pops out of the castle and it's all malformed and his eye and nose is bloody. First reaction: he got in a fight.
Except NOT AT ALL.
One of his fucking top teeth is...turned in a horizontal direction. It's like he has a tusk. Whatever he did to it, likely getting spooked while chewing on the bars, tore it up through the gum and now he has a big, gaping wound there. He's okay otherwise. He's not acting much differently, aside from hiding out in the castle. When we had him out he was trying to wander off and bruxxing and all that. So he's alright...aside from the tooth.
Downside? I, sadly, don't have the money to take him to an emergency vet. And the ones around here aren't terribly good with rats and the like.
However, he's still drinking and he has an appetite because he was trying to steal food from the others. So I'm going to keep an eye on him and call the vet on Monday to see if I can get in. It's probably going to cost me and arm and a leg, and I'm probably going to have to borrow money to pay for it because my checks are so painfully small these days.
Ugh. If it's not one thing, it's another.
