I wonder if I should start keeping a dream journal...

I've been having some reaccuring dreams the few years or so. I'm in a very large, very old house. The whole place is done in a very dark shade of wood. It's very, very beautiful. There's alot of doors and the doors are always closed, until I open them. Sometimes I'm lost, sometimes there's people living there and I'm an uninvited guest. I've either snuck in or I'm in parts of the house that I don't belong.

I remember one dream where there was a family and I must've snuck into the house. They were keeping their mother or grandmother alive (she was sick, not undead) in some fancy room. And I could peek in through a round hole in the door.

The house never seems to have any set layout. Or there's simply so many rooms and passages that I haven't figured it out yet. I'm always finding something new in my dreams in the house. And my dreams about the house are never the same. The place seems like a mismash of all the places I've lived or been in. A little of the house on Porter St, definately. But I've had dreams about that place before, all of them the same and involving the tower catching on fire from the inside.

This last dream consisted of me actually living in the house. It was much brighter this time around. Previously, I'd been running around pratically in the dark. Or very dim lighting. I had found a large crack in the wall that seemed to open wider when certian things happened in the room it was in (it was located in the bedroom, one that was along on of the outside walls of the house). I determined that it would be better to move the bedroom elsewhere until I found a way to fix the crack. Either by patching it, or simply taking that part of the house off.

I'm sure these things mean something but, like the house fire dreams I used to have (and haven't had in awhile), I can't seem to figure it out.

House
To see a house in your dream, represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the unconscious, etc. If the house is empty, then it indicates feelings of insecurity. If the house is shifting, then it suggests that you are going through some personal changes and changing your belief system.

To dream that you are cleaning your house, signifies your need to clear out your thoughts and getting rid of old ways. You are seeking self-improvement.

If you live with others in your waking life, but dream that you are living alone, suggests that you need to take new steps toward independence. You need to accept responsibilities and be more self-reliant.

To see an old, run-down house in your dream, represents your old beliefs, attitudes and how you used to think or feel. A situation in your current life may be bringing about those same old attitudes and feelings. Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking.

To see a new house in your dream, indicates that you are entering into a new phase or new area in your life.

To dream that your house is broken into, suggests that you are feeling violated. It may refer to a particular relationship or current situation in your life. Alternatively, it indicates that some unconscious material is attempting to make itself known. There are some aspects of yourself that you have denied.

To dream of a haunted house, signifies unfinished emotional business, related to your childhood family, dead relatives, or repressed memories and feelings.

To dream that a house disappeared, indicates that you are not feeling grounded. You feel uprooted by a particular circumstance or relationship in your life.

Crack
To see a crack in some object, indicates that something in your life is imperfect. Nobody is perfect. The dream may also be a pun on "cracking under pressure". You may be experiencing difficulties in trying to maintain your composure and keeping it together.

Lost
To dream that you are lost, suggests that you have lost your direction in life or that you have lost sight of your goals. You may be feeling worried and insecure about the path you are taking in life. Alternatively, you may be trying to adjust and get accustomed to a new situation in which the rules and conditions are ever changing.

To dream that someone else is lost, represents unresolved issues or feelings regarding the person that is lost. Consider also what aspect of that person you may have lost within your own self. Perhaps you need to recapture and re-acknowledge those aspects.

Wood
To dream of wood, suggests that you are feeling dead inside and emotionless. You may be behaving automatically and just going along with the flow. Or you may be acting out without fully thinking things through.

To dream that you are carving or shaping a piece of wood, indicates a power-giving, creative act/gesture. Alternatively, the wood may also symbolize spirituality and vital energy.

Bedroom
To dream that you are in the bedroom, signifies aspects of your self that you keep private. It is also indicative of your sexual nature and intimate relations.
