I think its interesting that the countries/states that have per capita the WORST public schools call it Coke.

Lots of brand names enter common usage, though. Aspirin, Kleenex, Band-Aid, to name a few. And the area around Atlanta is Coke's home turf, so that kinda explains it. What I wanna know is why there's one county in California calling it Coke. It's a little island all by itself. And I wanna know what some of the Other answers were.

I use to say Pop and grew up calling it that in Canada and still do on occasion. Now that I have been infected by Massachusetts and Connecticut lingo of Soda since I moved 4 years ago.

I still find when people call it Tonic very adorable since that's more the traditional name for it all.
