So. For $10 I acquired a reasonably new Dell Desktop computer from Goodwill.

Inside is a nice motherboard (read: working), a CD writer drive, a DVD drive, a 20gig hard drive, one 128 stick of SDRAM (glee!), a floppy drive (we don't have one in the current comp, actually), a network card, and all the typical plugins (modem, soundcard, etc.).

For $10, ain't half bad.

And EVERYTHING works.

There were two, and Angie and Dave wanted me to check one out for them, since I can pop the case open and see what's inside. The insides are pratically pristine, still shiny and almost new with very little dust. The one booted up nicely, albiet a bit slow, but there's no crap on them or anything. It's almost like they'd never been used.

So I figured I'd buy the other one and harvest it for parts, which I'm doing now.

And we planned on buying a CD or DVD writer drive anyhow. So that saves us money. And we needed another hard drive anyhow.

Glee. <3

Also, I bought TJ a bottle of Absolut Raspberri. Wow, 80 proof ain't nothin' to laugh at. o_o

I know. x_x The Goodwill in Cuyahoga Falls sometimes has towers, but they're usually pretty old. We figure whoever dumped both of these (plus two monitors, some keyboards and a mouse) probably bought those $400 comps from Walmart. Or, they were old business or school computers, since they had ACT programs on 'em.

I should look there - I'm kind of in the market for a new monitor for the Linux machine.
