Stuff and OMG, COLOSSAL CON RECAP!
Jun. 13th, 2005 03:06 pmOkay, since the damn box I'm supposed to mail out today is way too big for me to feasibly carry, on my bike, down to the post office, it'll have to wait for tomorrow.
But for now, you get a con update! Yaaay!
Friday morning was spent finishing TJ's WolfLink costume and getting the car cleaned out and stuff. Managed to not forget anything and headed out around noon. Got to the hotel around 1PM or so. Got badges, got filled in on what was going on (which is never much the first day, lots of registration and getting things organized). Artists Alley wasn't even set up, blame that on the hotel workers. As it should have been done MUCH earlier that morning. Blah. But things finally got in order. TJ changed into her costume quickly in the bathroom and, when we walked out a group passed us and commented 'fucking furries'. We informed the head of security and he told us to let him know if it happened again, which it did, and I was able to point out who the group was. They were spoken to and such. And that was that. I claimed a table for myself and set my stuff up. Most of Friday was spent loafing at my table until.....THE PEELANDER Z CONCERT. Which totally fucking rocked. So much energy. My legs and feet and mouth still hurt, but it was so much fun. And we had a MOSH PIT going. Okay, so it was probably the lamest mosh pit in existence, but it was fun. I hope we can get them back next year. After the concert was the dance in which SEXY DAVE'S LEOPARD PRINT THONG made its appearence. So freaking hilarious. But then security told him to put his pants on. The asshat furry-bashers were giving me and TJ shit from afar cause we were wearing our tails and paws. Told security, they talked to them and got their badges revoked. HA-FUCKING-HA, FUCKERS! And then the hotel got anal, told us we couldn't run the dance all night and suddenly imposed a TON of nighttime rules on us. Quiet time after 11PM and no one could be in the atrium after 3AM. What assholes. My and TJ searched for crash space and eventually wound up sleeping on the floor of the room all the security people had. The Embassy's floors SUCK ASS. And I've slept on ALOT of floors in my life.
Saturday we woke up around 11PM, I think. Got showers and headed back downstairs to set my table back up. Until cosplay, I didn't do a whole lot. Browsed the dealers room some more (we tried Yogurt and Caramel Pocky on Friday. Pretty good. I was hoping the Yogurt would be like the Milk Pocky, but it wasn't. Woe.). Saw
spiralpegasus, who brought his laptop and we tried to get it working with the wireless in the hotel, but there was no success. Ah well. Sold some more hats (TJ sold three hats! More than anything I sold, which was one mini-print! :O), chatted with people. Set out a box for puppy donations, which actually got around $20-$25 in the two days we had it out. Thanks to everyone who donated! <3 Cosplay was really, really nice. Went really smoothly and most of the skits were HILARIOUS. Especially the Video Game Distractions with Sephiroth and somecharacterIcan'trecallnow sharing a passionate kiss. XD And TJ won 2nd Place Novice for Crasftmanship for her WolfLink costume! Yaaaaaay! <3<3<3 I was so happy. :D After cosplay...uh...I think we went to get Chipotle. TJ went in costume. XD Thank goodness they were still open, cause we got there, like, 5 minutes to 10PM. :O But Chipotle was had, and it was good. Hung out until the dance, which bombed. :P Someone needs to get some GOOD, HARD techno. Cause I can't dance to that slow crap. :P We saw FANTASTIC movie after the dance about MOVING things. <3<3 I cannot say any more. :x We went over to Dougie's place that night, so we didn't have to sleep on the floor in a hotel room again. x_x
Sunday we got up early, around 9:30AM and got cleaned up before heading back to the con. Set up my table and hung out. Me, TJ, Angie and Dave decided to go swimming and had a little pool party. That was good times. :D Then we had staff photos and general con-closing craziness. After getting everything together, we hung out for a bit before everyone else went off to Quaker State for wings and stuff. TJ wanted to head home as soon as we could manage, so we didn't go with. After we left, we went over to Doug's to return his Ironclaw and Jadeclaw books and then went over to Parmatown for a quick game of DDR on the JAPANESE EXTREME MACHINE. Which I LOVE cause it's got good and fast songs on it. <3 And then, we headed home. Bwee.
It was a fantastic con, despite the hotel being a bunch of douchebags about things. I can't wait until next year. <3

Date: 2005-06-15 09:53 pm (UTC)Have you been to Morphicon? I was surprised at the amount of "We love you guys!" the hotel staff gave us this year, and no last-minute "You can't do that!" out of them - very up front about what they wanted and when we needed to close things down, and all that. Of course, I have to give credit to Trickter's negotiation skills for some of that, but I was amazed at how happy they were to have a big pile of furries around.

Date: 2005-06-15 10:02 pm (UTC)And no, I haven't been to Morphicon (yet). Has Morphicon been in the same hotel for awhile? Colossal Con was the FIRST con the Embassy Suites in Rockside had, like, EVER hosted. And, on top of that, I guess some of the hotel workers and stfaa were calling some of the congoes 'freaks' and 'faggots'. We're pretty displeased with them overall. :/
