So, me and TJ decided to take the day off of work because, well, we're tired and sore and need a day off, damnit. I call Labor Ready, let them know what's up so they can get someone else for today. I know Nick (who's an asshole) told us (offhandedly) that Dillen's had said this was our last chance or second chance or something. But our excuse for today (TJ's grandfather being in the hospital for her and my not having transportation since she was 'at the hospital') should have left us in the clear.

Apparently not.

Labor ready just called me to let me know that Dillen's doesn't want us back. Me, TJ, and some other kid. Despite the fact that she told them TJ's grandfather was in the hospital and the situation was, more or less, beyond our control. And that REALLY pisses me off because I really liked it there. And I was making good money. I just needed a day off, for christsake. The other kid that goes from Labor Ready can work every other day and they don't let him go, but we can't call off one day without getting the fucking shaft. And yes, I know we took 3 days off the other week for Canada. But jeezus christ, if you don't want to have to train people every other day, THEN HIRE PEOPLE IN. Fuck, man. I'd gladly work every day if I was hired in. But the whole reason I go out of Labor ready is so that I can have the convience of taking a day off when I'm beat.

I'm so insanely angry right now. I don't want to go back to making $5.75/hr at Champion Plastics or $6.00/hr at Nescor and Normandy. I want to make $8.50/hr at Dillens. AAAUGH. >_< I worked my fucking ass off there, I don't see why they're being such assholes about this. I was always early, I was always helping people, I could fo all my paperwork and shit after the first day. I knew what I was doing.

Fucking god. I want to go out there and scream at them.

And I wish I fucking knew where the Hag was because I need to go out and run errands and TJ doesn't feel well.

Ugh

(editted entry due to spelling mistakes...and posting mistakes...ugh)

I know I'm going to come off as unsympathetic and I'm really sorry for that first off.

But that's life. Fair or not, if you don't show up to work, the folks don't want you there. And the fact that you're working for Dillen's 'through' Labor Ready made you look like temps (though I'm not sure if this was the case or not). It's easy to fire temps - there's always temps. That's why they're called temps.

I know everyone needs a day off - Lord knows I need a day off from work - but it's part of your responsibility to go to work every day you're supposed to. Yes, there are situations that come up that you do need off, but really, if someone hires you, they expect you to work. And I'm not saying you didn't work - I don't for an instant believe, ever, that you're not a good worker.

Think of it as bad karma - while the excuse was valid, you used it in the wrong context and it came back to bite you in the ass.

--------------------------------------------

Now that I'm Mature Idiot shpeel is done...maybe you could go straight to Dillen's and try to argue your job back? I mean, regardless of whether it was true or not, that's bullshit for firing you because 'you were at the hospital' with a relative. Go tell them so, point out how hard you've worked, that you enjoy your job there, and that you're a worthwhile asset to the company. Make them believe it, that's important. Be confident and respectful.

Fuck Labor Ready and get Dillen's to hire you as an employee, not through another company.

Aaah, I knew I forgot my 'I know this isn't a good reason for complaining, since I did it to myself, essentially' disclaimer. :D But, of course, if they want people who are going to come everyday, hire people in, like I said. It would have been far more efficent for them to take a new person for the day and toss them on an easy machine instead of losing us and having to train someone on all 8 machines again.

But, of course, the people who correspond with Labor ready don't even know the workers that get sent there. So they're really just judging by attendence and how badly they feel like screwing someone over that day.

Eh, don't disclaim anything. It's your journal, y'can rant if you want. :)

Of course, that stupid comment thing leaves it open to assholes like myself to put their $2.15 in. ^.^

Esh, that's harsh. I know the feeling-getting 'fired' is no picknic. But, at least, they seem to have liked you at that Japanese restaurant. Perhaps you can go to them and say that, due to circumastances beyond your control, the place you were working at stopped calling you back, and do they have a spot open for you.

Worth a shot.
