I's hungy.
Jun. 12th, 2004 11:07 amFirst, my work rant from yesterday:
So, we're finally claning out the classrooms. AFTER cleaning the hallway. Brilliant. We clear out room 1 and figure, in all common sense that we move on to room 2. Okay, maybe not, there's a teacher finishing up getting her stuff from there. Okaaay...room 3? No. Room fucking 5. WTF? Why? Because it hadn't been cleaned at all. WTF? I swear you had the workers do it when I was mowing the lawn the other day. So we start organizing stuff to be cleaned off and moved out. No? What? You want us to wash the walls first? But we can just move all this shit out and do the walls and the floor last. The fact that you've been doing this for 18 years means shit to me, lady. I've done it for a year and I've already got a more efficent way of doing it that everyone agrees with. We all think you're an idiot and we know we're going to have to re-fucking-clean the hallway after you realize that dragging everything into it from the classrooms has made the walls filthy again. Dumbass. And THEN, 15 minutes before we leave, she moves us down to room 2. Fucking christ, do I want to kill this woman.
Now, my Chronicles of Riddick fangirl squealings:
I LOVED IT. <3<3<3 I wasn't going into it expectiing a masterpiece. I was expecting big budget Pitch Black with some good destruction, some sexy Riddick and some entertainment. But I got much, much more than that...
The characters were really well done, everyone played up to their roles the way I felt they should. So I shall tell you what I liked or didn't like about each below...
Toombs - I really like the love/hate relationship between him and Riddick. It was alot better than seeing another flat, emotionless, coked-out Johns again. Toombs was more charismatic and entertaining.
Imam - The way they continued the story from Pitch Black with Imam was very well done. The fact that Riddick put even an ounce of trust into him and that Imam didn't sell Riddick out to mercs (yay!), but instead, to try to help save the universe. I'm not really sure which would piss Riddick off more, though...
Kyra/Jack - Okay, I loved Kyra. The way they developed her character was pretty realistic, I thought. I mean, when you're 12, the logical thing to do to find someone who's being hunted it to join the hunters, right? And I think they did the Riddick/Kyra relationship very well in not shoving it in your face and making you like it.
Dame Vaako - I liked her simply because I didn't like her. She played the character very well in that aspect. Plus, her outfits were pretty cool.
Lord Vaako - He was obviously pussy-whipped. And they probably could have made his mullet-boy a little more devious in wanting leadership, but eh.
Aereon - Even though she wasn't really a major character like they made her out to be, I really, really liked her design. Or maybe it was just the whol magical transparent thing...
Riddick...well, do I really need to say anything. Yes, I do. I'm really pleased to see that all this acting experience has definately helped Vin give the Riddick character more emotion. When Imam mentioned 'her' (Jack) you could see his face change to this almost hurt look. Riddick had alot more character this time arund. Not that he didn't in Pitch Black, but it's nice to see more of it. I thought they cleared up what happened in the last five years pretty well. Even if it was mostly Riddick running from the law and looking like a scary street hobo. But eh.
I would have liked to learn more about the Necromongers, though. Ah well. And the Lensers were creepy as fuck. I really didn't like that screaming thing they did when they honed in on a heat signature. I also like the other Furyan Necromonger that helped Riddick on Crematoria. And Riddick taming the Hellhound? "It's an animal thing..." <3
I honestly think that they did a good job in progessing Riddick's story in general. A little pissed that Kyra was killed off, but you can't please everyone. I was pretty indifferent about Imam's death. But they both went out fighting, so that's good. I'm curious to see what they'll do with the next movie (provided this one brings in enough cash) since Riddick really doesn't have any ties to humanity left since everyone from Pitch Black have finally died. :P
We're also going to see it again today, provided I get a call from Rob a 4PM. Other than that, I'm loafing around, thinking about making some food and wondering what the hell we're gonna eat next week. Augh. :P
And I snagged this Celtic/Gaelic zodiac thing from

And for some reason, last night, I told TJ that her hair smalled like cookies while I was half asleep. I want cookies.

Date: 2004-06-12 03:44 pm (UTC)I'm an owl. Does that make me a furry? Or does it not count, because they have no fur? Can I be a feathery? That'd be cool.
And while overpowering personal magnetism isn't a bad thing, it seems to lack the penache of being a sexwhore Scorpio.
