Halfway to anywhere...
May. 25th, 2004 06:43 pmOkay, so, we're not at home. Yes, we were supposed to go home today. But, uh...we didn't. Why? Cause we ran out of cash, despite planning otherwise. I blame it on all the toonies. Stupid change-money. >_o
So, it's all a matter of when we get some cash before we can go home. And no one at home gets paid until Friday and my mother is completely unreliable. But, at least we have a roof over our heads. So that much is good. And, yeah, we might have enough gas to take us home, but we have to pay tolls and crap. So we're screwed there.
It's very weird being stuck somewhere that's not familiar. But then, this place is getting to be very familiar. I know how to get downtown from the house and I know my way around there pretty well. At least, to get to the places I want to go. Toronto's getting familiar, as well. Or, at least, easier to navigate than I expected. But we haven't been downtown yet...
So, we did the insanely responsible thing and spent most of our money at the Pacific Mall. In our defense, it was mostly on food. Actual food.
What is the Pacific Mall, you ask? It is the HOLY GRAIL of Asian markets. I have to thank
silvemoonwolf for informing us that this place exists. It's freaking HUGE. There's about a bajillion stores, 80% of them being gaming or book or snack stores. They're all tiny, too. It's just such a cool place. Unfortunately, we decided to go on Victoria Day. Which means holiday = shopping day. It was crazy. We looked for a spot for AN HOUR. A freaking hour. But we spent, like, 4 hours in there, so go figure. We need to go back up on a less busy day and take
nachitor, cause there's tons of Gundam stuff and TJ said he would explode with unbridled joy. Or something like that. And I actually managed to eat a meal with chopsticks! Even though I never had before. Yaay me! I discovered that the trick to using them is to not think about using them. It worked. And the teriyaki chicken we had was pretty good. But this place has everything I'd seen at the convention for, like, WAY less. Lots of Gloomy bear stuff and all kinds of trinkets and goodies. I also found a TON of soot sprite from Spirited Away that I wanted, but I held off. o_o But I must go back. @_@ And they had a Para Para machine in the HUGE arcade there. @_@
Anyhow, today has been lazy. TJ's been playing City of Heroes and I've been either sleeping or reading comics. So it's been pretty uneventful. We're going to pick up Matt from work tonight. Taking the mysterious, nonexistent highway. >_>
It's also very cold. And I want to play DDR, but no one will play with me. ;_;

I'm betting mine. MIne has a Hello Kitty waffle iron.
