Okay, so we discovered that we have a trojan on the computer. Apparently something that slipped in via Internet Explorer. This is FUBARing EVERYTHING. We discovered it via SimpleMU*.

This was originally the problem. We went about the directions on the Windows site, and we -thought- it fixed the problem, as TJ was able to connect to Battle Over Cybertron and, like, ElseMUX. HOWEVER, Matrix MUSH gave this error:

Status: unable to connect to this site:
( #11004 ) Valid name, no data record of requested type.
Status: an error occured, check the help file for additional information.

And Garou MUSH gave this error:

Status: unable to connect to this site:
( #11001 ) The host was not found, verify your address.
Status: an error occured, check the help file for additional information.

Now, the #11004 error is the one we originall got, but the other one had to do with the TCP/IP protocol. Which makes no sense that the new one doesn't. And the second one I'm just clueless on.

I re-did the Window instructions, like, 3 or 4 times. We upgraded IE to 6.0. I've been over the minimal options we have numerous times.

On top of that, IE refuses to open any pages now. I cannot use the LJ client, and god knows what else is screwed up.

And NOW, nothing will open in SimpleMU*. All it gives me is the #11004 error.

Also, is seems that everything I'm supposed to fix/delete/whatever simply isn't there. It's like, the trojan that we think we have really isn't there. It doesn't make sense...

Does ANYONE have ANY idea of what to do? I debated uninstalling IE and then reinstalling it, but will that mess up anything? I'm just exceedingly confused on what to do, because I don't want to fuck anything up. And I know SimpleMU* isn't the problem, but that's where we discovered it from.

But...uh. Yeah. Help?

Try replacing the 'english' addresses (server.host.domain) with the numeric. (140.103.234.22)

That error, at least for me, meant that Windows had temp hiccuped and forgotten how to parse the Domain Name Server entries. Using numerical IP bypasses that.

torjans are pretty easy to kill off your computer. run your virus check (notran, macfee, ect) and it should kill it. also DONT type any of yur passwords in till the virus is gone. what trogans do is hide and remember every key stoke, report it back to the user and then that person now has your passowrd. so if you do any banking online or ANYTHING that has to do with money DONT DO IT! dont log into anything until the virsu is gone and once it is its reconmended that you change all of your passwords for saftey reasons. but yeah, running a virsu scan shoyuld take care of your problem.
