Matrix MUSH Log
Feb. 17th, 2004 04:37 amI get all philosophical early in the morning. And 'Rora spouts off things that she normally doesn't. :D I quite liked this pose though:
Aurora nods. "That's weird, isn't it. We're all struggling to be free, yet we never can be. Always bound by some kind of control. But some kind of ball and chain that is clasped to out ankles." She hmms. "I've realized there's not much of a difference between the Machines and the humans. We're only looking out for ourselves, correct? Everyone's trying to do them best for them and their species." She pauses, milling over a thought for a second. "You know, I really can't blame the Machines for what they did. The humans deserved it. And, hell, at least they gave the ones who are plugged in a nice little confinement..."
'Rora's bound to get exiled by her fellow Zionists sooner or later. :D Or taken off the ships and no longer be a soldier. That, or she'll take up a job with Merv, considering Muse offered to help he if she needed it. And he and Persephone get along very well. ^_^;;

Sekhmet enters this area of the park. Walking down one of the many trails here. Her hands are in her jacket pockets and she looks around as she goes. Just another person out for a walk.
Aurora's seated on a bench with what appears to be a sketchbook. She seems to be caught up in drawing or doodling, but what is anybody's guess. She doesn't seem to concerned with her surroundings, but she glances up from her work every now and again.
Sekhmet decides to sneak up on Aurora sitting on the bench. Shouldn't be too hard, what with her occupied with the sketchbook. She walks casually, yet quietly. Not trying to draw too much attention to herself.
Aurora continues to sketch, lines here and there, obviously more into her art than paying mind to sneaky Rogue programs.
Sekhmet stops just about a foot away from where Aurora is. Just behind her. She clears her throat politely and states "Someone such as yourself should take greater care in noting their surroundings at all times." Her hands are still in her jacket pockets and she makes no sudden moves.
Aurora stops mid-sketch, holding the mechanical pencil up above the paper a bit. She glances back over her shoulder to see who is there. Once she realizes that the person speaking to her is not a threat, she begins drawing again. "I don't really concern myself with constantly worrying about my safety as my peers do." She replies. "I've come to realize that if you don't make a scene, you don't attract trouble, that you're relatively safe and deemed harmless while in the system."
Sekhmet chuckles softly, remarking "I see. So, you simply just sit there and perform that task? Is that not a waste of time?"
Aurora smiles a bit. "It seem to be a waste of time to most, but it's something I enjoy. Even if I'm not really doing it. If it's not really real." She says, erasing a some lines. "It's calming and something I miss."
Sekhmet shakes her head some and says "Right." Her interest already waning in the Runner. She looks off in another direction a moment.
Aurora glances over her shoulder at the Rogue, eyeing her a bit. "You have quite the short attention span, don't you?"
Sekhmet turns her attention back to the Runner, smirking slightly. "You have no idea who or what I am, dear girl. I suggest you keep your witty opinions to yourself."
Aurora grins. "Then why don't you tell me?" She hmmms, obviously curious now. "And my witty opinions are what keeps others on their toes." She says, turning sideways and resting her arm on the bench. She points at the woman with her pencil. "Besides, I recall you wanting an audience with Neo. What's up with that?"
Sekhmet just smiles a bit and says "If I were to simply tell you, you would probably have an unnecessary fear of me that would hinder the free form of this conversation. Therefore I will refrain from such." A nod is given and a brief pause taken before she comments on the One "I have the desire to do so, that is all."
Aurora pffts a bit, rolling her eyes. "I'm not like the other Runners. I don't feel the need to base my thoughts on someone simply because they might be more powerful or a machine. I'll give anyone the benefit of the doubt, except an Agent." She thinks for a moment. "Tell you what, I'll tell you something about me, if you tell me something about you." Yeah, it's not really the best of exchanges, but she's putting it out there. "Well, I think all the hype about him is nonsense. Sure, he's a fast learner. But a savior? A messiah? Please. I could do anything he does with practice. Anyone could."
Sekhmet smiles a bit and nods, saying "Very well. I shall. I have been described by the Merovingian as the 'Angel of Death'. And I suppose that is an apt title." Her smile widens a little and she nods once more, stating "Certainly. I have an interest in such things, myself."
Aurora raises an eyebrow. "Niice. You do your job well, I suppose?" She hmms. "Always though the Angel of Death to look....I don't know...eviler. But maybe that's just me. Nothing seems to make sense once you're unplugged." She shrugs a bit. "Hm, he really needs to get out more, I think. If he's suppose to be such an important person, than shouldn't he be, I don't know, doing things?" She hmphs a bit, then chews on her pencil.
Sekhmet smirks now, remarking. "I.. Walked away from that 'purpose' long ago." She shakes her head, adding "He is quite powerful, powerful enough so that he does not have to 'get out more', as you put it."
"Good point." Aurora says. "No reason to carry on the image if that's not your line of work anymore." She squints a bit. "Even so, being holed up all the time isn't good for anyone. Makes you go all stir-crazy and stuff. And so what if he's powerful, doesn't make him any better than the rest of us. Just 'cause he can dodge bullets in here doesn't mean he can do it in there. He's just a special case in the Matrix. No different from any other Runner or human in there."
Sekhmet smiles, asking now "And do you believe this of myself?"
Aurora points the pencil again, using it for emphasis. "Of you? No. Because you are not human, so to speak. You were coded a certain way, for whatever purpose you were meant to serve. Right now, it may seem like we're no different from one another. But you, I'm sure, could take me down in a second. But that's not what I'm saying about Neo." She puts the pencil to her mouth in though for a moment. "I mean that, possibly, he thinks himself to be better because he is more powerful, because he can dodge bullets. So he hides himself away from the rest of the world, figuring we're not with his time." She shrugs. "Or maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe he's simply scared and has no self-confidence. I don't know."
Sekhmet shrugs her shoulders. "Hmm. Well. Of course, if I understand it correctly, your reality is quite droll. But, I do have a spot of envy for you Zionists. You didn't have to work for the potential to go beyond what you were originally 'told'. I suppose 'told' is a good way of putting it."
Aurora she gets a michevious grin. "Oh, it can be quite fun sometimes. At least I can still go raving in the Real." She sighs in a reminiscing sort of way the hmms. "Well, that is true, it's not like we're forced to do much of anything. However, some people are quite the workaholics. Constantly trying to better themselves because it's what they knew here. What they're parents drilled into their heads. The need t be perfect and excel at everything. It's weird the way the human brain works..."
Sekhmet chuckles and shakes her head. "Yes, it is quite weird."
Aurora says, "I never even understood it before I was unplugged. Everyone seemed like mindless cattle. Constantly gobbling up whatever the media told them to. Sheep, I swear. And, it really doesn't change in the Real. Most humans have this absurd mindset to follow the leader, whoever that may be."
The Rogue just smiles, stating "Machines as well. It is the nature of things everywhere."
Sekhmet laughs and says "That is my purpose. To free my fellow Machines. To allow them to experience life beyond what they were originally programmed for. This is why I walked away from my purpose. I want to be free."
"Good plan." Aurora says, pointing the pencil again. "See, I've noticed the Rogues seem to be a bit more laid back than your typical, run-of-the-mill Program. If you treat them with respect, you usually get it back. Hell, I haven't met a Rogue yet that had any ill will towards me. I like that." She thinks for a moment. "But are you actually free? Are you...employed under anyone? I know numerous Rogues are in the Merovingian's company. But aren't Rogue's normally hunted down for exiling? For leaving their purpose?"
Sekhmet smirks, stating. "I am free enough. And I have little to fear from the Agent Protocol. The Merovingian would no doubt like to employ my services, I assure you. But, I believe he is quite taken aback by my presence."
"Then you are free enough. In your own mind, at least. Always some undermining control that we don't realize." Aurora point out, then taps the pencial against her chin again. "The Merovingian is quite the man of authority here it seems. I worry, though, that my peers will brand me to be a Cypher because I've been associating with his wife and another employee. Although, the latter doesn't know that I'm a Runner."
Sekhmet nods her head "Certainly. There is that." She shakes her head and states, "As interesting as this conversation is, I feel I must depart now. I have other buisness to attend to."
Aurora hmms. "Always that." She says, then nods to the woman. "No problem. It was quite nice talking to you. I never did get your name, though. I'm Aurora."
Sekhmet nods her head and says "You did, you simply missed it." With that, she walks away.
Aurora opens her mouth to say something then closes it, trying to remember what the name was and when it was given.
Aurora nods. "That's weird, isn't it. We're all struggling to be free, yet we never can be. Always bound by some kind of control. But some kind of ball and chain that is clasped to out ankles."
