Feline Acne?

I was curious if anyone on my flist who own cats have ever had any issues with feline acne? Sam seems to have it, I noticed some crusty black things on his chin a little while back and they went away for a bit only to return sporadically. Last night, I noticed his nose was sore and red and there were the sort black black blackhead things he'd get on his chin.

It doesn't seem like it's very severe and I've been reading up on it, but I can't seem to find a good way to combat it. Some sites say to use a gentle soap, some say to use peroxide. I'd really like something a bit more all natural, really. We have plastic water bowls at the moment, so I know that could be part of the problem.

its the bowls you're using they have an allergic reaction to something in the plastic. switching out the bowls for metal or ceramic will most likely help.

seconding the bowls! mosey had what looked almost like a big, red pimple on his chin. we had metal and ceramic bowls but they didn't get washed enough. so yeah, definitely wash them at least weekly. i have two sets so that the one i wash can air out and not smell soapy to him.

I'm definitely going to give the bowls a try if I can find some cheap ones.

I know the stuff on his chin is definitely acne, but I think his nose might be sore because maybe he's getting a cold. He's been awfully clingy with me over the last few days and, when he got a cold last year, he spent the entire time following me around, sleeping on my lap, or waiting where I sat him on the chair when I had to move.

Plus, he was all puffed up yesterday and I thought it was because the kitten had been pestering him, but now I think it was probably because of an oncoming cold.
