So we went up to Towner's Woods today to see the Indian Mound. I wasn't exactly sure where it was, but thankfully the Dead Ohio page gave me a good idea of what to look for on the paths.

Though it's not an 'impressive' mound, like the Serpent Mound or any of those further south, it's still pretty damn neat. It overlooks Lake Pippen and it's really quite peaceful. I just wish it wasn't practically unknown. I mean, I stumbled across the fact that it was there completely by accident, though while I was there the first time, I kept wanting to go down the path that heads towards the lake and the peninsula the mound is on, but I didn't feel like locking my bike up.

I think if I had found it that way it would have been both creepy and would have made me jump around like a retard, as if I had been the first to discover it.

We also went past Brady Lake and I was pleased to see that it's not really far from Towner's Woods and you can swim in it! So, if I plan on biking that far again (and it'll probably happen, it's a good trail to bike on and I like the scenery out there), I can go prepared and take a swim if I'm inclined.

On the way home, we saw a mama groundhog and two babies. I also spotted an abandoned school on Brady Lake Rd., though I haven't found anything about it otherwise yet. Ah! It's the Emma Williard School. There seems to be little history on it, aside from it having closed in 1978 when the Brady Lake school system was absorbed into Kent's schools. This is the most useful article I've found. It doesn't seem like they ever went through with the remodeling, as the school looks the same as it does in the photo.

I need to get batteries for the camera, too. Lots of pretty things I've found to take photos of~

After we got home, I moved the living room around and migrated my stuff downstairs to the couch. It's too hot upstairs during the day.

Then, I grilled some chicken and hotdogs and bison burgers for dinner.

I thought that was what school you meant. It marks the road going down to Sweet Apple Acres Beckwith's Orchards, which is actually a cool place to visit for snacks. :)

I've been enjoying your posts about Towner's Woods, btw. Haven't been out there in forever but it's a great place.

I didn't know there was an orchard there! It's, like, RIGHT near the bike trail, too. That's awesome.

Check it out, just turn down that road right next to the old school. :) Can't miss it.

I had no idea! I'm probably going to bike up that way later this week, so I'll case the place and see if there's a decent entrance or not. :D
