Snow adventure!
Dec. 14th, 2010 01:45 amToday was exciting.
I had to work at 11AM and I spent part of my half-awake state hoping I'd get a call telling me I didn't need to come in. I originally intended on waking up early to catch the bus, but I hadn't gone to bed until, like, 5AM, so I would have only had two or so hours of sleep. So I slept in until 10AM because it only takes me twenty or so minutes to walk up to campus to catch the loop/stadium bus.
This was great, IN THEORY. However, Summit Rd. was closed and the loop/stadium bus wasn't running because of this. The roads were absolutely horrid and I ended up trekking through to the business administration building where I ducked in to shake my scarf and hat off. Turns out one of the maintence guys was hanging out there and he gave me a ride up to the student center in one of the little on-campus vehicles. Which was awesome because, well, it was less walking in the snow.
At work, we were SO. SLOW. A few people filtered in to return rented books and do some buybacks, but most of us spent time shelving new textbooks in the back, which I like doing anyhow. Campus cancelled afternoon and evening classes and all 'non-essential' personel (read: everyone but the security, maintence and such) were to go home by 1PM. Everyone at work was like 'DO WE GET TO GO HOME? ARE WE NON-ESSENTIAL??'. After waiting for the verdict, we were told we were closing at 5PM, which was awesome.
So, after I got out of work, I bussed out to Stow because I needed lights for my ~tree~ and some other stuff. I figured, since I was already out and about, I'd get it done with. I bought some cheap ornaments from Target's One Spot and some lights, then I picked up some Chipotle and waited for the bus.
After getting home I discovered that the lights I got were on WHITE WIRE, not green. Which is unforgivable. So I'll have to go out and exchange them tomorrow or later this week.
Then, I took a nap because I was sleepy and my feet/legs hurt from trekking around in the snow.
But, in regards to the weather, it wasn't really that bad out (coming from someone who travels on foot a lot). As long as the wind wasn't blowing, it was tolerable and not too colr (admittedly, I was wearing two coats, a hat, a scarf and gloves).
Tomorrow I have my Art History II exam and morning classes are cancelled. I'm hoping they cancel classes the rest of the day because my exam is technically an afternoon class (12:45PM) and I just...really don't want to deal with all of that. I don't mind coming in next Tuesday to take it AT ALL.
Speaking of, people are FLIPPING SHIT because exams were cancelled today. A lot of people go back home for the break and fly out, but they fail to read that IF YOU'RE GOING OUT OF TOWN AND YOU THINK YOUR EXAM MIGHT BE POSTPONED, TALK TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR. Because it's not like they're going to be such assholes that they won't help you out because of the weather. But it's such ridiculous, entitlement whining that all I can do is roll my eyes and laugh.
Now, I'm loafing around and being lazy. I don't have a whole lot of motivation to do anything and my body is still 'bleeeeeeeeeeeeh' and wants me to sleep.
