You've never seemed so tense, love...
Feb. 17th, 2010 04:03 pmOn main campus, walked down to fill out paperwork at the campus jobs building. Like, six papers, but hopefully I can find something! Crossing my fingers because it'd be easier to walk down to campus and work in a better environment than another retail place.
My phone died in the middle of the night last night, so my alarm didn't go off at 10AM like I wanted it to so I could get out, get things printed and then get to class by 2PM.
OBVIOUSLY that didn't happen.
So, I'm trying to make the most of ANOTHER missed day of class. I know we've been missing class because of the snow, things with the house and all that, but it's been such a huge pain and I CAN'T bomb this semester because I NEED my financial aid and I WANT to stay in school and attend the main branch.
It's so frustrating.
But I'm trying to keep my head up, at least. Job hunting, trying to get missed classwork done while I'm NOT at school (since my professors gave me pretty well detailed syllabuses). I might go and talk to an advisor next time I'm on Stark campus to explain the situation and what's been happening. My professors haven't looked at me TOO seriously yet, but I don't want it to get to that point. My 2D Comp professor is kind of :| about the classes I've missed, but I've been good with getting my assignments done (because it's not like Drawing I was, where 90% of the classwork had to be done IN-CLASS).
Like I said, this will be SO much easier when I'm on the main campus. Fifteen minute walk to the campus, never have to miss class unless I'm dead sick or something.
I have to print out my Writing I portfolio. It was due today (plus, I'm missing a section), so I'm going to get docked points, but at least it'll be turned in. Hopefully I can get on top of the next section of work that we're doing and not have it fail catastrophically.
Also, my last post? The broken window?
For the last couple weeks, there's been icicles 'growing' from the corner of the roof near out back walkway (which I've posted prior, the 'ice tree'). I guess, the other day, the ice just got TOO HEAVY in the gutter up there and the whole thing crashed down.
We weren't home, we returned from school in the evening and saw that part of the siding was in our walkway. We saw the icicles finally fell and assumed that's what most of the mess was in the walkway. We thought nothing of it, went inside and about our business.
Tony mentioned that is was quite chilly downstairs. I mean, we have an old place and it's usually a little cold in some parts of the house. But this was really cold.
Before we went to bed, I was standing at the bottom of the stairs and noticed the huge draft that was just hanging out in the dining room/craft room. So I walk around, trying to place where it was coming from. Some of our windows are a bit drafty, like I said, old house.
I walked over the the window in question (which has a curtain over it, the other does not, because I'm lazy) and the curtain was billowing out. I move it and go FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF at the sight.
Apparently, when the gutter broke free from the house, the whole thing swung down, hit the neighbor's rabbit hutch (which is below that window) and crashed into the bottom half of the window.
Thankfully, it wasn't a huge deal. I called Scott, our landlord in the morning and he had it fixed by the afternoon.
