Aug. 17th, 2008 06:39 amI am going to scream.
I reformatted TJ's computer last night and reinstalled Windows on it. Prior to this, our network was working fine. Everything connected well, she could connect to the internet no problem. I didn't change anything during the Windows setup. At all.
While setting up Windows it told me it couldn't find a connection. This wasn't a big deal at the time, as I assumed it was because my computer didn't recognize her computer.
I ran the network setup wizard, as usual, but it STILL won't connect. The only thing it's showing in her connections is the 1394 adapter. Mine shows both the internet connection and the LAN connection. I tried connecting her computer straight to the modem. Still nothing. I tried resetting everything (unplugging the modem, router, shutting down the computers, etc., etc.), still nothing.
I can't install the Windows service packs (if that's the issue) on her computer because there's no internet connection. And I can't updated any drivers.
Any ideas anyone? This is really beginning to piss me off and it's likely something REALLY simple but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
Like I said, everything worked perfect before I reformatted her computer. I can't imagine what could've gone wrong. D:

Date: 2008-08-17 08:22 pm (UTC)I did the network setup through the XP disk, as well, and that installed additional things too, apparently. And I pulled the drivers I figured I needed from the HP/Compaq site.
But it's still not working. And I have no clue what else I should be looking for. D: I also don't understand why I'm unable to just hook the internet connection directly to her computer. It won't recognize it and I'm not entirely sure why.
