I'm in the market for an MP3 player (NOT an iPod, unless someone's giving me one for free.). Something cheap (but not cheaply made!). I really want a screen on it, but those seem few and far between with the inexpensive players. I've been eyeing the Zen Stone's, but they don't have screens. And the Stone Plus is a bit expensive (yes, I'm cheap. I really, honestly can't believe how much MP3 players are still).

So, uh, advice? Companies to stay away from (I've seen and heard nothing but good things about Creative Labs. Angie had a Zen that she had dropped countless times and it still played great.)? Etc., etc. I'm really indifferent about if it's flash or not. I'd like a rechargable battery, but I can deal perfectly well with using regular batteries. And I don't want something tiny. D: Like, the Stone's are pretty small, but if I got a clip for it, I'd be less likely to loose it.

Bob said he'd loan me his iRiver until I pick up a player of my own. So I may end up having to save up.

Creative is good.. I've had a 256mb flash muvo TX FM that has worked great for years ([livejournal.com profile] ilthuain being it's previous owner). [livejournal.com profile] mharpold8 apparently has a creative Zen and I havn't heard any complains from him about it..

I have a fine Zen Mirco, its a good machine, my siblings have Sansas that seem pretty nice too.

But I'd definately suggest a Zen.

I have a Creative Zen Nomad (or something like that) it's either 30 or 40 GB that I'd sell pretty cheap. Still works like a champ, I have the AC adaptor still too.
