Oct. 18th, 2007 01:45 pmI am GAINFULLY EMPLOYED!
...after I do my drug test and wait for it to come back...
But...GAINFULLY EMPLOYED!
Target hired me on the spot. It's only seasonal right now, but it's better than nothing.

Date: 2007-10-19 07:42 am (UTC)Been there. Done that.
Date: 2007-10-19 03:39 pm (UTC)It's an interesting job.
1.) WATCH YOUR CLOCK IN AND OUT TIME! Seriously, if you try to clock in even a second before your 'meal time' is over you won't see the entire days pay until you go sign forms with HR after you suddenly realize your check is horribly low and something is off. It's not a big deal if you just pay attention.
2.) Don't let everyone tell you what to do. Your first day on the job ASK straight up who you get your answers from - get names - and ONLY listen to those people. There are a lot of people who have no authority and never will but really wish they do that will feed you inaccurate information left and right. They mean well, they really do, but it can get really confusing.
3.)They say that if you have concerns to go to HR or talk to your supervisor but if it's not a REALLY important issue I would say wait it out to see if it resolves itself before bothering them. They get $#@&ing cranky as hell if you actaully bring up concerns. I got yelled at for pointing out there were no bandaids in the first aid kit, which seemed like a big deal when I accidently knicked myself with a box cutter and was bleeding out all over the place.. O_O;
I mean other than that there was nothing really horrible about working there. I left because a position I had been chasing for a year opened up in the Library and Justin and I planned to move out of the neighborhood anyways. Target has a pretty high turn around so that's good. If you up show everyone and make sure to actively ask everyone "Can I help you find something?" it will probably turn into a non-seasonal job for you when all is said and done.
Ok, I'm done..
I luv Ooooo...
