Stuff and RANT!
Oct. 27th, 2004 01:35 pmOMFG. I have a huge job-related rant, but I'll get to that after I recap the last day or two.
Yesterday I was awoken at 6AM by the phone ringing. It was Bud, wanting to know if he could get a ride to work for this morning. Okay, but then I'm informed by TJ that we don't have enought gas. Lynn offers up gas money, but then Bud starts trying to guilt trip me. The same shit about how they've helped us when we were down and out and we should be doing the same and what're we going to do when we're down and out again and blahblahblah. Then he puts Lynn on the phone. Which pissed me off even more because it's hard to say no to her. She's like another grandmother to me. But it's 6 FUCKING AM. I am not a happy camper at 6AM under any cicrumstances. And this jsut pisses me off. So I pop the battery off the phone and I go back to sleep. Sure, I'm going to get hell for hanging up on them, but oh well. I'm going to jsut start not answering the phone in the mornings, or telling people to fuck off and call me after noon. :P
So whatever. I go about me day cleaning cages and tidying up and all is well.
Then it was off to Rob's for a ZOMBIE DOUBLE FEATURE. We watched the original Dawn of the Dead, which was more comedy to us than horror. And then we watched remake Dawn of the Dead again. Quite fun, yesyes.
Today I got up at 10AM and we headed out to the mall cause TJ had to do her paperwork at Suncoast and I had an interview at this stupid survey place called Opinions. It's one of those places where they send people out around the mall to ask questions about...stuff. Whatever. I put the application in in August cause no one was hiring at the time and I needed them money. And they decide to call me now. Fine, whatever.
I go in and introduct myself. The guy (heavyset, no neck, looks like he has a fake tan) looks around for my application (he didn't have it on hand, despite my interview being at 11:30AM, I was there around 11:15AM), finally finds it. He doesn't shake my hand, he never introduces himself, and he asks me to pull over a chair. Okay, feign cheerful interview attitude....now. The interview is pretty boring, even for an interview. He just tells me what the job is, tells me what exactly they do survery for when I ask, and then he wants to hire me and start me tomorrow. Uh, what? So I drop the bomb and tell him that I've got bad news, I've got an interview tomorrow (biiiiiiiiiiig lie, my interview at Suncoast is next Tuesday. :3) during the time he wanted me to come in (1PM-6PM). He looks confused. Then he asks where my interview is tomorrow. Baaad move. Aren't you NOT supposed to do this? I tell him Suncoast. He asks how much I was making there. Minimum wage. Maybe $5.50/hr. I can't remember exactly. He asks me if I enjoyed it. Yeah, I loved the people I worked with. He looks confused again and is probably wondering how the hell he can get me back to wanting to work for him (which I never wanted, it was a last resort thing). Then he looks at the application and sees that it's seasonal. And he mentioned this to me, asks me if it's the same this year. I say yeah. He's all like, 'Well, if that's what you want.' I give him the blankest stare I can muster. He gives me his number and tells me to call him and let him know what job I'm going to go with. Fine, whatever. Then, I simply thank him for the interview, put my chair back, and I leave.
Aaaand, down to Suncoast to rant to TJ about it. And to Dina. And OMG, that was the crappiest interview I've ever had to endure. My god. :(
But, like mentioned above, Dina's giving me an interview at Suncoast on Tuesday. Poor TJ had to actually go into work today, cause one of the newhires didn't show up for her first day. :P Go figure. Happens every year.
