Hey! An update.
May. 29th, 2011 08:09 pmKeep meaning to update with an actual entry, but I keep getting distracted by things.
Finished reading The Hunger Games, did I mention that? Halfway through Catching Fire. Also reading Fight Club when I get the urge. But I started I, Lucifer and it's been quite enjoyable. Plus, good writing research, as I'm playing a Lucifer in a game. Exciting!
I also spent a ridiculous amount of time going through Richard Siken's work because HNNNG I LOVE IT ALL.
On the other hand, sifting through ebooks can be a pain in the ass. Everything that seems vaguely interesting (especially paranormal novels) always, ALWAYS seem to have a beautiful or conflicted or deep or stunning protaginst with a ridiculous name who has something dreadful or amazing or scary happen to her life and she then finds a 'hottie' that makes things 'complicated'. It's all very contrived. If I see 'stunning boy' or 'hottie' who the protagnist has to 'come to terms with' or 'cares about deeply, for some reason', I will scroll right on past because it's so fucking ridiculous and I hate it.
I went out and biked for the hell of it today. I've been taking the bike just about everywhere, though I haven't been recording it every day I do take it. I keep forgetting because I go the same routes all the time. But I decided to go down the other part of the Hike & Bike trail I've never been down and see what that was like.

It was quite nice, I went all the way down through Towner's Woods (THERE'S A HOPEWELL INDIAN MOUND THERE AND I HAD NO IDEA LKDFGKHGLKDF. guess that gives me a reason to go back) and I wanted to go to Brady Lake, but I couldn't find an easy way to it that wouldn't result in my getting lost.
I also almost ran over a snake.

Can anyone identify him? I considered a garter (since we have brown ones around here), but them have striping instead of banding. He was pretty long, probably at least two feet because I'm sure he could stretch from my shoulder to my palm easily. He was just chilling out on the blacktop of the bike path, probably sunning himself. When I got closer to take pictures of him he sort of lazily went 'welp, guess that's over' and slowly headed off into the grass before he sped off and away.
Today makes me realize I need to probably keep the fan in the window because it was really difficult to sleep this morning. It's 87F now and its supposed to be 90F on Tuesday. Gotta make use of the fact that we have a place that gets a decent crossbreeze. Thankfully, the breeze we've been getting today has been nice. Heck, it was 80F-something yesterday and I biked all over comfortably. I just don't want to be sweltering like last summer. Ugh.
I've been wanting to draw, but at the same time I haven't had the motivation for it. Dicking around and coding CSS and stuff has been a lot 'easier', I guess. I've been really lazy about it lately. Bleh.
School's being a pain in the ass, which is expected for the summer semester. Apparently, there's a hold on my account (and Tony's as wel) in regards to us having attempted more hours than we've completed. This is because of us bombing our first two semesters, naturally. We assumed this wouldn't be an issue for Tony, as he was reinstated and all that. But when I spoke to the girl at financial aid, they said they don't send out notices for that sort of thing until you're at, like, ninety hours or something.
So we have to talk to our advisor and hope we can get whatever it us taken care of so we can take our classes and get our financial aid.
For now, however, I'm going to sit on the porch and wait for this storm to roll in.
