So, I wake up from my nap this evening to find my little fluffball gerbil dead.
Oh, but that's just the start of it.
She's dead, and Oz is eating her.
O_O
So, I calmly push Oz away and take her out. And..her head is gone. Yes...or it's...I. Don't. Know.
After fretting about it, we came to the conclusion that, she was tiny. I mean, she was only HALF the size of the other babies (and they're perfectly healthy). And every day she seemed smaller and bonier. She most likey didn't get enough milk when she was younger and there was just no way to help sustain her, even with vitamins in the water and extra sunflower seeds every day. And, since we didn't hear anything, she most likely died on her own, and eating her was the only logical way to dispose of the body in Willow and Oz's minds. Which is understandable, because I'm sure they wouldn't want a carcass in their nest if they buried her.
So, the last little girl is going to be introduced to Rosa and Chii tomorrow. Hopefully that will go well. Rosa and Chii are pretty laid back, though.
So, since Willow is obviously preggers again. Which isn't suprising. The next litter will be watched closely, and given extra milk and whatnot. Although, I knew we couldn't have that good of luck with our first litter.
I knew I should have paid attention in the pet store today. We were looking at the gerbils there and one of them had died, and it wasn't much older that our babies. And I knew that meant something. Some kind of sign or something. Ah well, not really anything I could have done about it anyhow. I'll have to bury her and Jessie when the weather's a little nicer.
Hey! Happy Birthday to me! *grumble*
