fuckyeahterribleocs:

[apparently this is some sort of furry mary sue girlfriend of dean from supernatural i found while digging around tumblr under the ‘supernatural’ tag. i had to share the horror]

OMG YOU GUYS MY ART AND POE WERE ON TERRIBLE OCS. HAHAHAHAHAHA I AM LAUGHING SO FUCKING HARD RIGHT NOW.

Can I explain myself, though? Because it’s not as if I’m going LSDHLSKGHLDFK FURRY SUPERNATURAL LOLDFGHDLFK. This isn’t a case of an anthropomorphic creature in the Supernatural universe as it is. This is the case of a anthropomorphic creature in an anthropomorphic world wherein the other characters are also anthropomorphic animals (yes, that means being lame/awesome enough to make anthro versions of canon characters, which totally hasn’t been done before).

Poe also exists outside of magic furry land and I play her on a couple places with the same background/abilities. It just depends on the enviornment I wish to play her in. She was simply originally created as a furry character and since I do enjoy drawing them, that stuck.

Yeah, sure, she’s sort-of-kind-of in a relationship with Dean in a few universes, but that’s one of the perks of roleplaying with friends. I could go on a tangent explaining the details of it, but I know how everyone looks on OC/Canon relationships, so it would be a waste of space/breath. I do try very hard, in the Supernatural-verse, to keep her activities outside of the Winchester’s activities, so it’s not like she’s involved in EVERY FACET OF THEIR LIVES like some OCs can be. I try to, at the very least, make her fit into the canon with being a Mary Sue about it (even though she has a point against her with the relationship thing).

I CAN TALK A LOT ABOUT MY CHARACTERS, OKAY?

Thank you, Anon. :D I’m well aware MURRY PURRY FURRY automatically deducts points from anything, but whatevs.

Tony sent it to me and then I was all dfklghdfklghdl.

Well, admittedly, I think Poe was called out because she was furry AND involved with a canon character in a television show. Out of context, unfamiliar with our game/story/shenanigans would assume: furry OC, human Canon. So I totally get that.

Your OCs are all really well-rounded in my opinion. They all seem like normal, real people you could meet.

ahh i'm glad you think so :P
i feel like nobody else is able to pick up on their characterizations at all, because i never really go on about them, so it's really good to know that some of it comes across. i do try to make my OCs (specifically anthro ones) "normal" people. T^T;

I think the issue with anthro characters is that (regardless of if you're in the fandom or not - it seems prevalent outside of the fandom as well and in other media with anthropomorphic animals) anyone who doesn't actually KNOW about the character defaults to assuming their personality/traits are that of the animal they're based on.

Sure, that's true in a vast majority of cases (ex: Poe, as a cat, likes catnip. Phoenix, as a fox, likes pouncing things. Lexine/Max, as a Tasmanian Devil, makes awful noises that sound like a garbage disposal sometimes. Laurie, as half-Spotted Hyena, is exceptionally dominant and masculine for a female.), but a lot of people don't realize that the ~furry~ body is sort of just a vessel and you could still remove them from that and make them human and they'd still be the same character without the physical animal characteristics.

But most people make furries for fucking, so that's vastly overlooked. :/

Even with the little bits that you mention about your characters, you can get a good idea of what they're 'like' personality-wise. I really love rambling and exploring (and telling everyone about) a lot of my characters, so that's why I'm ~always~ talking about them. XD
