So a nice day meant I could fix the bikes up and we actually went biking. It was less enjoyable for Tony because he started to feel gross from an iron pill halfway through the trip, however. We took the bikes up to the park and rose almost the entire bike trail there (1.6mix2). I went out later to get food and took the bike, as well (1.2mi).
I need to invest in new tires for my bike. It has those thin, useless tires on it right now and I'm never as comfortable/secure riding it as I am when I ride Tony's bike (mine is a cruiser and his is a mountain bike). It's a LOT of work to go up even the smallest of hills with my bike and those tires. On Tony's, I can climb most hills without much trouble at all. So, yeah, better tires will be in order come summer.
I want to get out biking more often because I want to lose this pudge like nobody's business. I don't care if there's pudge there, but I don't like the weight I've gained. Plus, I've noticed biking tends to wake me up for some reason. When I loaf around the house, I'm all sluggish and bleeeeh and I know it's because I'm not up doing anything. When I go out biking I want to STAY out biking or go BACK OUT almost every time, no matter the hour. I mean, I just devoured Chipotle and usually I'm ready to crash out, but I'm still wide awake and active. It's crazy.
Plus! I'll be biking to and from work pretty soon here, so that will help, as well!
I'm trying to keep track of my biking from now on. I don't have a bike odometer or anything, so I'm using Google Maps to map out my rides, which seems to work pretty well. I've been trying to find a solid number on how many calories you burn while biking, but every site I read gives me something different. I'm not going to star counting calories or anything (god, I hope not!), but I'm going to try to be a bit better with what I buy for groceries. I always take drink/snacks when I plan on biking for awhile (usuall applesauce or fruit cups) and, while I took pop today, I'll probably start taking water in the future. Plus, it means less flat pop.
I don't know if anyone else on my list bikes to lose weight/in a relatively casual manner, but any advice is welcome!
