So, I dropped my Elementary Photography class. Why? Well, partially this and partially because, while sitting in class with our laptops out, the professor pointed at us and went "I see we have some toy computers". Then proceeded to tell us we should get Macs and blah blah Mac Nazi shit I don't give a fuck about. I laughed and told him 'never'.

Also, the pointed mentioned on the site linked above about him liking only people with ~professional~ (read: expensive) cameras are favored held true. Another kid in class had a little netbook and a Canon something-or-another that was likely fuckall expensive and absolutely nothing was said to him about his 'toy computer'.

Now, I understand all the media departments at Kent use Apple products. I'm aware of this. It's also why I'm not taking VCD, because I can't afford a $1800 Macbook Pro. However, NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD/WANTS A FUCKING MAC. This does not mean you shove your ~GODLY~ opinion of Macs down other's throats. You know what you do when there's PCs in the classroom and you'll primarily be using Macs for in-class work? You ask if the PC users are familiar with the Mac systems. You don't insult their belongings because you believe a brand to be ~sooo~ much better. It's unprofessional and rude AT BEST.

On top of that, he just droned on and on and neither Angie or I could keep attention on him.

So, halfway through when he decided to take a break (it was only a two hour class), Angie and I packed up and GTFO. Then, proceeded to drop that shit like a bad habit because I can use the $800 tuition more than I can use a month of frustration at a douchebag professor.

I have Life on Planet Earth today, which I'm hoping will be a decent class. I also have Introduction to Geography, which is 100% online and I think it'll be super easy.

Unfortunately, it's raining and I have to walk to campus. Unless I luck out and catch the bus, but I still have to go and pay the water bill two blocks away. Upside, though, I found an umbrella in the trunk last night.

TJ has a therapist appointment today, but it's while I'm in class, so we'll probably be home around the same time anyhow.

I have the urge to draw. Like, pencil to paper draw. However, all my pencils have gone missing. So I either need to find them, or stop at the art store downtown. I need a new, decent mechanical pencil, however. I haven't seen any of mine in a ~long~ time now. But, at least my sketching pencils are still around.

I guess my grandmother's back in the hospital. She was doing really well back at the nursing home for a minute there, my mom told me.

Are you freaking serious???
Omg, I would have jumped up and launched a total argument about what the REAL toy computer was, and how educated he was on the "fact" WHY macs were indeed better?

OMG OMG OMG OMG this makes me so flaming mad.
I really wish I could have been there in that class.
Plus the fact i'm getting paid to be a photographer and ONLY USE PCs is another nail in that fuckers coffin. :(

you shouldn't have to drop out of a class containing stuff you want to learn because you don't prefer macs!!

That's pretty much how I feel about it. I've only ever used PCs, even for my artwork and photos. It's absolutely absurd to assume you should ONLY use Macs for ~artistic endeavors~.

Like I said, I know Macs are thee primary computer brand on campus. That's something I have to deal with. But shoving it down my throat and calling me out in class? Not cool and absolutely not professional.

I was interested in the coursework because I'd like to have some actual photo learnings, but between the Mac thing and the ratings on the RateMyProfessor site....yeah.

i will never, ever own, let alone purchase, a mac.
because of all the pretentious twats that do.
fuck them, seriously. i don't care if you prefer them because it's just a damned computer and who CARES what kind you use, but if they want to drink steve jobs' magic koolaid and lick his asshole, i wish they'd stop acting like anyone who uses a PC is living some sub-par life for fuck's sake.

chris has a macbook (he got it for a low price by chance) and yeah, he likes it a lot. but he also has a desktop PC that he built. and he runs XP on his macbook sometimes. he's like, "yeah, it's a sexy computer and runs well, but it's A DAMNED COMPUTER. it's a tool."

If a Mac did something that absolutely no other computer could do, maybe the hipsters and pretentious twats would have some ground to stand on. But there's nothing a Mac does that a PC cannot do. So people who fap on and on about Macs are just talking out of their ass because they're ~POPULAR~.

I wanted to get a higher-end PC for VCD and dual boot Leopard on it. I inquired with the VCD advisor about it and he suggester I contact the person in charge of the computers for that major. But he said it's unlikely because...the color profiles may not be the same. I'm like 'um, you can tweak those'. Also, the ~hardware~ might be different or some bullshit. I just frowned and pretty much gave up on ever majoring in VCD after that.

Pick any Mac computer.
Check the retail price of it.
Price out the individual components for it.

Scary, ain't it?

Ohhh my gosh I would tear that guy apart. I use macs and PC's equally. (PC at work, mac at home) I prefer macs to PC's not because I think they are "omg the superior computer" I just like them, it's what I'm used to and what I have been using for 10+ years. What's the point in getting all arrogant about what computer you use? It's just personal preference, really.

On that note, macs are overpriced. XD I probably wouldn't have been using them for as long as I have if it weren't for the fact that I can get a discount by ordering through the company I work for.

I just committed mac-blasphemy. XD

Yeah, there's a huge difference between just liking a Mac better than a PC for general reasons. But people who stick it up on this high pedestal? It's absurd.

God, they are SO overpriced. The one that's suggested with the ~minimum requirements~ for the VCD (Visual Communication and Design) major START at $1300. I'm like....no way.

I like both Macs and PCs but I'd never slam anyone for using either, to each their own. And yes a fancy expensive camera can take awesome photos but a shitty photographer behind the lens can still take a crap one too.

That guy sounds like a total douche. Kudos for getting out of there.
