We have a lead on a new place. I'm not hyping it until we're 100% about it, but we're going to meet with the landlord today (we looked at the place yesterday) and, hopefully, sign a rental agreement.

I don't see why it's so hard to get a place with cash in hand.

However, if we get this place...we'll probably stay there. For a long time. So, here's hoping.

Yesterday was frustrating and then good.

We went to look at the apartment I mentioned in my last entry (or around there). The fixer-upper? Yeah...no. The landlord couldn't even call us to let us know they weren't going to be able to make it (they were at the ER) and e-mailed us instead.

The lady in the downstairs apartment offered to show us the place upstairs because she has a set of keys.

This was more than a fix-up job. This was one of those places that should just be boarded up. Turns out, the last renters lived there for NINE YEARS. A woman and her daughter. They had cats. See, when I heard there was damage in the place from cats, I figured it would be some simple cleaning and painting or something. No. This woman let her cats do whatever, where ever, apparently. They had to pull ALL of the carpet up. Apparently, they just dumped litter in the one closet and let the cats use that for a litter box. The walls were that sick yellow color that smoking for years in a house will do.

The cat urine smell had seeped into the wood.

The lady downstairs explained that while, yes, the landlord lady is a nice woman, she doesn't want to do any work. Apparently, the downstairs had to be fixed up to and the lady renting down there put in a good $300-$400 on painting and getting the floors done. The landlord doesn't want to actually buy the things to fix the house up, but that's, apparently, why you get such a 'good' deal on the place (the rent was $400).

So, yeah...no. We thanked the lady for showing - and warning - us and we went on our way.

Cue two hours of driving around and calling places that had FOR RENT signs outside. Once we got a lead on the place we're interested in now, we went and got delicious Chipotle and waited for Angie to get off of work.

After, we went up to Gabriel Bros.. I found a pretty amazing shirt that didn't fit me at all and I was really upset about it (HI, PMS). But I ended up finding a cute apple shirt and TJ and Angie found me a fabulous pair of sneakers. Which I needed anyhow.

We were going to go to the Loft and play MR. BACON'S BIG ADVENTURE (reasons we shouldn't go into novelty stores: that), but they were having a live band and the drummer douchebag was being a douchebag about trying to get us to come in and watch. We blew that off and went over to BW3 which was quiet and barely had anyone there.

We ate, then went to The Loft to play our AMAZING game and it was also not crowded at all. So we had drinks and a fine adventure through meat land.

(Angie won. THREE FUCKING TIMES.)

Then, back to Angie's. Watched some Youtube and then went to bed.

I know! It's things like this that make it SO hard for responsible people with pets to find a place to live without paying an arm and a leg because of someone else's mistakes.

It was PRETTY gross, though. I mean, I've lived in places that've needed fixing. It's no big deal. But....oh my god, there was no saving this place.
