I spotted my friend from high school, Heather, at Walmart today. I didn't say anything because, well, I always feel obligated to. And I really shouldn't have to. I'm just glad to see she's okay/doing well, cause I worried when the house she used to live in was boarded up and such.

It looks like she's with someone. And has another kid. The kid she had in HS is really big. Like, I know it's been, like, over five years since she was pregnant and all, but it's bizzare.

But whatev.

Went out to my mom's work and she fed us and gave me a little money. This was, like, the best thing ever. Real food, oh god, it feels like it's been so long. ;_;

Apparently, the father of the one guy (JR) we lived with in North Carolina passed away. When his (the father's) wife found out, she had a massive heart attack and is now at the Cleveland Clinic. Pretty sad. :/

I'm finally buckling down and cleaning the kitchen. Hopefully I can get the bedroom cleaned up, as well. Tezzy is starting to get curious and climb up on things she doesn't need to get into, so I need to reorganize a few things.

Rob might swing by today. Finally talked to him after, like, two months of not doing so. He's been busy and we've been lazy. That's how it goes sometimes.

I'm STILL waiting for money to clear in Paypal. It said the expected clearing date would be today but...nothing. Lame. But I think I have enough money to put a little gas in the car to get to work in the morning (plus, it's payday!) and grab something if we need some food today. We bought a pizza yesterday, but that's been since consumed.

For some bizzare reason, whoever is weedwacking their lawn is totally fucking with the reception on our TV. D:

I'm feeling cranky. I think I'm PMSing. God knows my body's been freaking the fuck out. Now that the hives from the other day have cleared up, I noticed my shoulders were covered in little pimples. Ugh gross.

Commission for someone over on [livejournal.com profile] teenycom. I screwed up and colored her chin grey, when it should've been white, therefore blowing my comment to TJ the other day about being pretty good about not fucking up things on tradition work out of the water. Lame. :/ But the commissioner was okay with it, she didn't mind. XD

Okay, after this thing has been sitting on my desktop for two or so days: I HAVE AWESOME THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT!

...but it'll have to come after work! :D

So. SO SO SO SO SO.

We're leaving Target yesterday morning and walking through the mall and, as we pass the art gallery I spot Batman and Batgirl prints in the window. These seem familiar, I say to TJ and we zip forward intently. Then we spot a bunch of other prints near the door.

THEN, we run into Peter. Which is awesome. I used to take comic book drawing classes from Peter years ago. He's a fuckin' cool dude and is actually a comic artist. He's running Screaming Tikicon, which is, like, the first large-scale, honest-to-god Guests of Honor comic convention in the area. I'd been meaning to get ahold of him for a few weeks now, after Greg (who runs the comic store downtown) told me Peter was in charge of the con and gave me his number. But I'm a fag about calling people and I just never got around to it. But I had the feeling I would run into him sooner or later.

He was setting up the art gallery for the Tikicon art show, to help promote the convention and such. We chatted a bit, but he was crazy busy trying to get things set up before 5PM (and he still had to pick up frames for a few things!). We offered our assistance and left him with our number, cause we were planning on being around the mall for awhile.

Rob called, cancelled The Dark Knight (he was going to take us, as we haven't seen it yet) because his dad came up from Virginia to escape the hurricane. But he ended up coming out to check out the art show after he helped his dad unpack. The show opening (you must realize, 'show opening' isn't as grand as it seems in these parts. But this is a pretty big thing for folks like us, who adore comics and cartoons and general geekery.) was pretty cool. They had a Darth Vader and Jedi Knights (we discussed the dividing-by-zero-isms of Anakin and Vader being in the same place at the same time) and a lot of people came by and showed interest. Which is AWESOME.

People Peter knows are estimating 10,000 attendees for the con. That would be AMAZING and FRIGHTENING.

Why?

Well, amazing because it would break even, at the very least. I mean, it's got a pretty good pull. The original Batman TV show cast (Adam West, Yvonne Craig, Julie Newmar) plus Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), etc., etc. And, OMG, TODD DEZAGO (who was the other half of the creative force behind Tellos with the late Mike Wieringo).

The frightening half?

Guess who's volunteering their amazing services as seasoned con-goers and con-workers?

Oh yes, that'd be myself, TJ and Rob.

And if the convention hits anything close to 10,000? Oh god, crowd control and general mayhem. But I think it's going to be awesome. It's only a month and a half away but it feels like it's right around the corner.

Now...to figure out costumes!
